Camilla Hoitenga – Flutist, Artist, Innovator

Camilla Hoitenga is an internationally acclaimed performer, best known for her close collaboration with composers Kaija Saariaho and Karlheinz Stockhausen. Classically trained by renowned flutists Marcel Moyse, Peter Lloyd, Alexander Murray, and Julius Baker, she eventually built her career at the forefront of contemporary music. She has continued to collaborate with composers, inspiring works by Péter Eötvös, Ken-Ichiro Kobayashi, Anne LeBaron, Peter Koeszeghy, Donnacha Dennehy, and dozens of others.

As a soloist, Hoitenga has performed with leading orchestras worldwide, including the London Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, and Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra. A dedicated chamber musician, she performs in a variety of ensembles, including El Cimarrón Ensemble, Duo Hoitenga & Viet (flute and cello duo with Michael Viet), Duo Mirai (flute and kantele duo with Eija Kankaanranta), Trio Ariel (with mezzo soprano Anne-May Krüger and harpist Héloïse Dautry), and WAVE DASH~ (flute and percussion with Magdalena Meitzner).
